For this project I wanted to work with a medium as important to me as my statement was. I used a sort of digital mixed media. The process I used was very similar to my "what am I about" jam board project from the beginning of the semester. I think its cool to start and end on a similar note. What am i about project(Included for reference). some trial and error
Finished Productfinal thoughtsThis project and the time I spent working on it mean a lot to me. Every photo or blending element used has specific meaning tied to my central message, and making this was very therapeutic. I'm proud of this piece, and I hope it made you feel the way I felt making it, and that you understood the meaning. Thank you for an amazing semester.

In this project we were challenged to do a self portrait with a unique twist. sketchesSo I had a lot of ideas. Looking back I wish I had gone with the center one in either the first or second rows, mainly because the colors were more interesting and I like the composition more. However, I chose to use normal skin tones instead of wild colors because I wanted practice mixing skin tines with acrylic. My final project was semi-inspired by underground artist Creepygals, which is where the pink colors and cheetah print came from. in progress photos
Finished productfinal thoughtsI really struggled with this project. Doing a self-portrait with body dysmorphia was very hard for me. I spent so many hours painting this, hating it, and then painting over what I had just done. I am still not happy with the finished project but I need to let myself be done with this project. If I attempt a portrait again, I don't want to do it of myself.
For this project, we were told to take a book and make four pages into art, all surrounding the same central idea. One of the components necessary for this project was a cutout, so one page (at least) had to have a cutout that led to a different page with different art on it.

final spreadFinal thoughtsThis project was so fun! I LOVE working with mixed medias and telling stories. I would have loved to add more 3D components but they didn't really fit with the project and they would have made the book hard to close. I really enjoyed experimenting with the watercolors and stamps, and I loved the cluttered feeling it created on each page. (I think mixed media looks best when its a little cluttered). I really had to draw / practice outside of my style, and this was an ambitious project for me. All in all I'm happy with the finished piece and I enjoyed using medias to make a statement instead of just for visuals.
20 Ideas: Compositional Sketches: Idea for Final Project: Progress: Final Result: I struggled on this project, but ultimately decided to do the reflection of a heart monitor in a plate with a heart on it. It is supposed to be kind of a visual representation of the phrase "eat your heart out" and is personal to me. Working on this project at the time I did made this concept even more personal to me, for private reasons. I do not believe this was my best work and I am not incredibly proud of it, especially in comparison with the other people in this class, but I did work really hard on this.
I did this when I was extremely rusty, and so these are definitely not my best work. It was good practice though and it makes me crave cherries. My blending in this was not good, but I do not think prismacolors or photorealism will ever be my medium.
A sphere, cone, and cylinder on brown, black, and tan paper. I actually had fun doing this, the most fun and least stressful thing we have done with prismacolors.
